Bile: The green color is likely caused by bile, which is normally found in your intestine. Usually green stool is seen with diarrhea. There are many causes of diarrhea.

Green Stool: If stool is loose, the reason for green stool could be rapid gut transit time. Green cabbage, lettuce, peas, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, green salad, green leaves, celery and green beans as well as food that contains green food coloring can lead to green stool. Some meds can change stool color. If there is a change to stooling pattern that can’t be explained a medical eval would be prudent.

Color normal: Stool color is made by the bile from your liver. The color range goes from dark green through the yellows and browns based on how the bile is changed in transit. The color you describe is well within the range of normal. The increased frequency of stooling may reflect some difficulty digesting his feed.
