Does rabies kill you?

Almost certainly so: Rabies, once symptoms present is (with one documented exception) 100% fatal. Fortunately is is very rare in humans in the United States. If you have reason to believe you have been exposed to rabies virus through a bite from, or contact with, a diseased animal it is imperative that you seek immediate medical care. Of course, prompt vacinnation prevents this fatal outcome.

Rabies is fatal: Yes, rabies is extremely dangerous, although fortunately very rare. If in doubt, it's best to seek professional treatment right away. Rabies is transmitted by mammals only - so not birds or reptiles. Hopefully pets are vaccinated against rabies and there are no bats in the house (which can transmit rabies thru scratches or bites). There are experimental treatments for rabies, but best 2prevent

Pretty much always..: Rabies is a preventable viral disease of mammals most often transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal. The vast majority of rabies cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) each year occur in wild animals like raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes. http://www.cdc.gov/rabies/index.html
