Avoid reflux: Really big ones may need surgery, most don't. Many have no symptoms. Can have gastroesoph reflux symptoms with/without hh; may have no symptoms even with hh. In general, treat like ge reflux: avoid large meals, fatty, foods, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, carbonated beverages, lying down for 2-3h after eating, eating for 2-3h before bedtime; if overweight, lose weight. Antacids etc maybe, c md.

Medical: Hiatal hernias cause some heartburn with reflux and bleeding or ulcerations. Reduction of reflux by elevation of head of bed. Small, meals well before resting and lying down. Antacids, etc. On occasion, surgical treatment is required.
