Scleral icterus: Yellowing of eye/skin is called jaundice because of the elevation of a substance called bilirubin. When your blood cells breakdown, some bilirubin is formed, but the liver is able to break it down..In case when liver can't, bilirubin increases and deposits everywhere, including eyes/skin, hence yellowing. It is a sign of liver/gallbladder problem and consult with doc is recommended.. Good luck..

Hepatitis: If the yellow color is more noticeable outside than inside, you should have liver studies done. If it is yellow only in localized areas, you may have pinqueculas and they are not serious.

Yellow eyes: In darker-skinned people, there is sometimes pigment contained within the conjunctiva (clear, vascular layer of the eye covering the white part) that can make the white look yellow. Could also be sun/wind/dust damage (pinguecula). The above are benign. In certain liver diseases, jaundice causes the eye whites to appear yellow. This is not normal and should be addressed by a doctor.
