Is it possible to still have an infection in the kidneys if there is blood in urine yet the bloodwork comes back negative for infection?

Yes: If the infection is localized to the kidneys and hasn't spread to blood, it may not manifest with bacteremia. It is important to note that the presence of white blood cells, not regular blood, in the urine is what tips you off to the possibility of infection of either the bladder or kidneys.

Yes: Hematuria does not indicate infection. Pyuria with dysuria and a urine culture with more than 100, 000 colonies per ml of a urinary pathogen would indicate an infection. These tests would need to be done. Blood tests would not be sensitive in demonstrating a uti.
