Rehab: Patellofemoral joint pain can be structural or biomechanical- meaning there is some damage to the joint versus misalignment or maltracking of the patella within the trochlear groove. The number one cause of pf syndrome is quadriceps weakness. So, correcting that is goal #1. Strengthening of the hip abductors, stretching the it band are also key. Pf bracing, orthotics, injections are other options.

Physical therapy: Pt directed at quadriceps strengthening and hamstring stretching should help. May also consider using an orthotic in the shoes if you are flat footed.
