Generally yes: Lasik is a very effective and reliable procedure for correcting the nearsighted (myopia). It is rapid, safe and usually predictable. It cannot be used for very high myopia (over 9 or 10 units). Find an ophthalmologist to discuss this especially one who does not do the procedure and he can guide you to the best local person for lasik, .
