Not necessarily !: Older patients, or patients with DJD of their knee can strectch their meniscus giving the same appearance on mri!

well the bony spurs and osteophytes can displace the meniscus so it is best to say all meniscal displacement is not pathology. but it should be carefully evaluated when present.

Where does it hurt: A torn meniscus usually causes catching, locking or buckling sensation to the knee. It usually occurs after a twisting injury. Many people have some significant swelling. An MRI is the best test to diagnose this.
