Yes and No.: In general, ocps are one of the first treatments tried for control of heavy irregular menses. However, they do not work for everyone. The Levonorgestrel iud is another very good option, although this will control the heavy bleeding usually but not necessarily regulate your cycle. It is not uncommon for women to be on ocps for years to have normal cycles.
