Usually OK: The other testicle is simply not descended into scrotal sac. Once the undescended one is brought down between 6 and 9 months, even the fertility is close to normal.

Depends on situation: Testicles are made next to the kidneys and travel to the scrotum in fetal life. If one did not travel down, it could have been destroyed or still remain in the abdomen. An abdominal testis is more likely to develop cancer or cause problems for the normal testis. Most would do an ultrasound to see if a testis remained in the abdomen & if present, remove it in a 20yo
