Depends: Usually induced labors are longer and more uncomfortable. However, induction is typically done at 41 weeks if there are no medical complications and at 39 weeks if there are medical complications. If the cervix is unripe or unfavorable, then cervical ripening agents can be placed in the vagina or cervix.
