Can compulsive shopping be a side effect of mirapex (pramipexole)?

Yes: Mirapex (pramipexole) is a Dopamine agonist and can cause problems with impulse control. You hear about compulsive gambling and this also represents a problem with impulse control. Please discuss this with your doctor as there are alternatives. Good luck.

Yes: A compulsive behavior, such as an urge to spend money, is an impulse control disorder that is a known side effect of Mirapex and other similar medications. Let your doctor know you’re experiencing what you’re describing. S/he’ll determine the likelihood that Mirapex is the cause (looking at things like timing) and decide whether an adjustment in dosage or discontinuation of it is warranted.
