Depends on severity: If you have a first degree burn (red skin only) some aloe or similar product is ok. If you have second (blisters) or third (charred skin) degree burns you should see a doctor for evaluation asap. Deeper burns can cause severe scarring and prompt intervention may help prevent complications. Prescriptions may be helpful. Best wishes.

Burns: When there are blisters that open the wound must be cleaned with saline solution or soap & water, then and antibiotic ointment should be used to prevent infection. If the burn was too deep or third degree requires to see an specialist in wounds, or plastic surgeon soon. For first degree or erythema :picrate of butesin (butamben with tetracained Benzocaine in us) or any numbing cream. Show to dr.

Keep moist: Superficial burns up to blistering should be kept moist. Deeper burns with dry thick skin should be immediately evaluated by md.

Also size of burn: While i agree with dr. Bowman, the size of the burn is also important. Smaller (like the size of a quarter) blistered burns can often be treated topically with antibiotic ointment without a doctor visit. If the burn becomes red, swollen or has increasing rather than decreasing pain however will require visit to doc as may be sign of infection. Hope this helps.

Depends in deprh: Superficial (1st degree) burns with redness require minimal treatment with an ointment & possible nsaids (if not sensitive). Partial thickness burns (2nd & 3rd degree) with blisters must be treated with topical antibiotics (bacitracin for face - silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) for body) if not allergic in order to minimize the risk of infection which may increase the amount of tissue damage. Sulfamylon for ear eschars.
