Does ascites fluid get reabsorbed by the body or does it need to be drained (tapped)? it is not growing, just remained the same.

It depends: It depends on the underlying etiology and the amount of fluid. Small amount of ascitic fluid that results from a ruptured cyst can resorp on its own. Also a small amount of malignant ascites may disappear if the patient is responding to therapy. Sometimes, symptomatic and diagnostic drainage may be necessary depending on the fluid volume and the clinical scenario.
