Ask about Topamax (topiramate): I would need further info to be of more help but in general topamax (topiramate) and Depakote are used both for seizure prophylaxis and migraines. Some other questions you might want to ask: what is the chance of a seizure? Will you need to take antieplieptic agents for your lifetime? Are there any other treatment options for your avm? Do you have migraines or another cause for your headaches? Be well.

See a physician: This depends on whether the avm was treated. If it was totally excised and you have documentation that it is all gone, then it is unlikely to be the problem. However, if it was not excised, you will need further imaging studies (mri, angiogram) to see if it has changed or is larger. Also the imaging studies will tell you if there is any sign of bleeding which may also lead to headaches.

Consider: Presume the avm is past history, but if never embolized or removed, need to check status first. You might do best using a preventative headache medicine in the migraine class, and in view of your present meds, maybe try a beta-blocker, calcium channel blocker, or botox.
