Not necessarily: Pneumonia can be nilater, and have bilater infusions - in may individuals: children, otherwise healthy adults; the presence of cancer depends on numerous factors - are there and masses on the x-ray? Is the person a somker or ex-smoker? Many more details are needed to answer this question - please speak with your doc!

Always possible: If a lung cancer obstructs a major airtube in a lung, a postobstructive pneumonis occurs. Antibiotics will not help this. The obstruction neds to be relieved before the pneumonis will clear up. This can be done w3ith a laser or radiation. With pneumonia one could have some fluid(effusion) occur in the space between the lung and the ribs. It would be unusual to get effusions on both sides. Follow.
