Anovulation.: Irregularity in ovulation can account for irregular periods. If the home pregnancy test is negative 8 days after your expected period the chance of pregnancy is <1%. To make absolutely sure repeat the test in a week and/or see your gynecologist to check serum beta human Chorionic Gonadotropin levels.
