Syncope: Dilantin is a medication usually used to treat seizure. Fainting episode or syncope can be caused multiple reasons the common ones are anemia , dehydration, arrhythmia, certain cardio vascular and neurological conditions such as seizure disorders. Ekg can yield valuable information. Although syncope work up includes holter monitoring eeg and a ct scan or mri. Consult your physician

OK,....: I can only assume your work up for syncope revealed a possible seizure disorder, and the Dilantin was rx'd. Not enough info. Here, ...Did you get an eeg to DX seizure disorder, were you admitted, did you follow-up with anyone yet post discharge, etc.? Follow-up with your pcp, assure they have the ed records and your hospital stay info, and your questions will be answererd.
