ABSOLUTELY W/ hi SPF: Needless to say you should not be tanning unless it is with caution and protection. Retin a (tretinoin) will increase your photo sensitivity and predispose you to a burn. Sunblock, not sunscreen, should be used.

Good plan: Tretinoin increases the risk of sun burn and sun sensitivity. It is recommended to use at least spf 25 or greater and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Going to the beach and tanning goes against the reason most people use tretinoin. In the long term you are probably better of stopping the tanning than the tretinoin.
