Could be dry: If you get it occasional spam on your lid it may be from being dry. You can use artificial tears, lid hygiene(heat pack over the eye and eye lash wash with baby shampoo) and omega 3 essential fatty acid(fish oil, flax seed oil or chia seeds). If it gets worse, or it becomes more frequent then you need to consult your eye doc.

Benign: You most likely have what we call myokymia - a benign twitching of the lid from firing of the nerve to that muscle. It is common in the middle years, does not come from any pathology and leads to no functional problems. Lightly rub your lid and wait for it to go away when it occurs.
