Nutrition & exercise: Same way to reduce in children as in adults: healthy nutrition & regular exercise. Avoid prepared, processed, fast foods. Avoid high calorie, low nutrition foods. Eat proper serving sizes. Soft drinks are notorious offenders of all these "rules". Don't forget physical activity. Moving thumbs playing video games doesn't count (although jumping up & down to replicate some dance maneuvers is a start).
