Long term breathing: Fixing a deviated septum should only have long term good effects. It should be nice to take good deep breaths through the nose. I should be exteremely rare to have a long term bad effect.

Better breathing: Hopefully the long term effects are better breathing, sleeping and a decrease in nasal and sinus problems. Just make sure that when referring to deviated septum surgery you are referring to an operation that straightens the septum, not a "nose job" that changes how your nose looks.

Better breathing: Deviated septum surgery is done to improve nasal airway by straightening the bone and cartilage. Long term problems are rare. Sometimes there can be some bleeding early on. There are rare problems such as a perforation in the septum or infection.
