Can long-term use of tricor (fenofibrate) cause cirrhosis of the liver?

Family practice: It is recommended to follow the liver enzyme panel which is a blood test. If any elevation of them occurs it needs to be stopped. It could cause cirrhosis.

Cirrhosis: In a recent study 0.3% of patients taking tricor (fenofibrate) had cirrhosis. There were over 14, 000 patients covered. That's a pretty low incidence of cirrhosis for any population. Not a big risk with the drug.
