Do cloth diapers help heal diaper rash or make it worse?

It depends.: If your child has a diaper rash, the most important things to do are changing the diaper the minute he/she goes, leaving the area open to air as much as possible, and using a barrier ointment every change. If you're changing the diaper frequently, either cloth or disposables are fine. If the rash doesn't improve, please see your child's doctor.

Maybe: Disposable diapers contain chemicals derived from bleach to whiten them amongst other things. Some babies react to the diaper itself. Or they could develop a skin reaction to the wipes. All this said, some infants do better with cloth because of this. It also depends on how quickly you change the diapers and how you keep the area clean. Diaper cream will also help create a barrier healing skin.
