Re-evaluate cause: Carpal tunnel surgery will work if the nerve is being compressed in the wrist. Similar symptoms can also develop if the nerve is being compressed elsewhere. Also, if the bio mechanical causes that led to the initial symptoms are not fixed in physical therapy, the symptoms may come back. See a sports med doc for evaluation.

Talk to surgeon: Not unique that healing may take some time, especially if the central axon has been compressed, as it may slowly recover at rate of 0.1mm daily, speed of fingernail growth. If concerns regarding recovery or scarring, a followup EMG may be of value, but would not do until at least 8-10 weeks post-op. Be patient, it takes time to fully heal.
