Hormones and acne: Often during menopause the ovaries stop producing estrogen, but the adrenals don't stop making testosterone. The hormone receptors are filled less and the testosterone is able to get in there more readily. Even though testosterone levels do not technically go up, to the end organs it seems that way because they are seeing more of it. Testosterone stimulates oil glands and can then cause acne.
