A member asked:

How would a pre-implantation genetic diagnosis be made?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Embryo Biopsy: Pgd/pgs is done by creating embryos and allowing them to grow to the 3rd or 5th day of life. The 5th day provides more accurate results. A small laser hole is made in the placental tissue of the embryo and the cells are sent out to a lab that can evaluate each embryo for all 23 sets of chromosomes including the sex chromosomes. Some labs obtain blood samples from the parents to validate results.
