Does it hurt: Fissures in the tounge that are painless even after eating salty or acidic foods are fairly common and benign. They are artifacts of the papilla that line the tounge. If the fissure is from trauma and extends into they muscle of the tounge, then it may take time , but they heal. If you want to be sure, see a dentist.
