Helps remove stain: Baking soda is an abrasive and helps remove stain. No other whitening effect. If used long term the abrasive affect can thin enamel of teeth causing teeth to look yellow. The under layer called dentin is yellow and the thinner the enamel the more the yellow tint shows through.
