A member asked:

Why does my mouth tingle when i eat citrus? is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acid: Citrus fruits are acidic and have astringent qualities (what makes you pucker with lemon). Depending on the acidity it may stimulate other receptors in the mouth that detect burning sensation such as the one produced by chili pepper.
