See below.: For a week, keep a daily record of how much and (what) your baby eats and drinks. Go over this with his doctor; if his doctor feels that he's getting a balanced diet and growing well, then he's getting enough. If not, his doctor will work with you on improving his intake.

It's not your job!: We all have a need to feed our children. Yet as they get older (1 yr) they begin to realize there are things over which they--not mom/dad--have control: eating, sleeping, and ?Pooping and peeing. If you fight, play games, or force feed your child, you will lose. Picky eater: give him a vitamin and call it a day. If he's hungry, he'll eat what's provided (that's your job!). He won't starve.

See other answers: There's often a big difference between eating enough to grow well and be healthy and eating enough to make mommy happy. If your nine month old is growing well, s/he is getting enough calories and you should not push him/her to eat more. What is under your control is the quality and healthfulness of what you feed. Don't give food with lousy nutritional value just to get him/her to eat more.
