Shaving: Chondroplasty is basically a shaving of friable and degenerative cartilage. Meniscus was probably present before but NT read because it is difficult to see.

Smooth cartilage: Chondroplasty implies a smoothing out of the articular cartilage surface. Root tear may be from new injury or was not called on first MRI if subtle.
