Mouths take longer: "skin" tissue in the mouth takes longer for complete healing than skin on the outside; sometimes up to 6 - 8 weeks. Rinsing with warm salt water and staying away from alcohol-based mouthwashes are the best way to keep it clean and pain-free. Those mouthwashes can make the area irritated and sting. Gly-oxide in the image used twice daily is great because it has a tip that can be focused on it.

Sore under tongue: Healing will depend on what the actual problem is. This is a common area for mouth ulcers. Most ulcers or wounds in the mouth will heal in 7-10 days assuming they are not aggravated. However, this should be checked by a dentist, especially if there is swelling or if you have already had this for longer than 10 days.
