Depends: Depending upon where the pain is it could simply be some mild arthritis either where the rib cage joins the spine or the small joints of the spine. It could also be related to the muscles of inspiration that connect the ribs. If the pain does not improve with some mild anti-inflammatories then an evaluation by your doctor is appropriate.
