Very unusual: Unless it is for a very short duration (cpl weeks, max) to address a perceived or known deficiency, i haven't found any literature to support it--only that it can cause high blood calcium levels, nausea, weakness, kidney injury. (see: http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/vitamin-d-toxicity/an02008 ) i would advise to question the psychiatrist as to rationale to be on the safe side.
