A member asked:

What is the difference between the two types of iuds?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hormone vs no hormon: Hormone-iud such as Mirena (levonorgestrel) is designed to slowly/steadily release a tiny amount of hormone during the intended period--about 3 yrs. Non-hormone iud: paragard is made of copper and works by creating a sterile inflammation thus preventing implantation. This iud can be used for up to 10 yrs. If you are considering such, consult doc. Good luck.
