Uti: Generally, unless it is a cath specimen, we consider > 100k colonies a positive result. Your symptoms are just as predictive of success w/ treatment than the colony count.

Not too bad!: The diagnosis of UTI requires 100 000 ufc/ml. The presence of UTI symptoms is important. If you don't have symptoms then contamination should be suspected and repeat urine culture with clean catch is recommended.

Can't tell: The number of colonies seen in the culture does not have much significance. The important thing is whether symptoms have improved or not.
