Yes: Tobacco use in general is harmful. 1/2 pack per day at your age is not good. As female, it increases risk of blood clots, and multiplies risk of blood clots from birth control pill. Cut back 1 cigarette every 2-4 days, until off. Replace urge with chewing gum or some other non-caloric activity.

Cigarrettes are especially dangerous when you are on the pill, because smoking increases your risk of stroke by several mechanisms, including making your blood more easily to clot. The pill increases the clotting in your blood, so the two together make you significantly more likely to have a stroke!
