On "inactive" pills: The next period, and each period after that, will be on the inactive (placebo pills) pills that contain no hormones. To make the birth control pills work, one has to take them correctly. Otherwise, there can be more spotting or breath-through bleeding, which can look confusing. So, take one pill a day, without missing any, and periods will come on the placebo pills (next cycle, if not this month).
