It could: Cancer can spread through the bloodstream to most any part of the body bypassing the lymphatic system, so the answer is yes, in theory it is possible. That said, colon cancer loves the liver and it would be uncommon to go to the neck (i'm assuming you mean neck nodes) only.

Very unlikely: Colon cancer that does not involve lymph nodes should not have neck lymph node involvement. If you recently had surgery you probably had a central catheter placed in your neck for IV administration. This may be the lump you are feeling. Make sure you talk to your doctor at the next visit to have a look. You could also have swelling from the endotrachral tube.
