See below: Generally a ct scan of the abdomen is good to monitor the abdomen, which is where most recurrences of this tumor occur. Pet scan is another alternative and it can check the whole body all in one test. Once can alternate between ct and pet ct studies once every 3 months.

PET/CT.. beware ...: Pet/ct scan is often used to stage cancers however it is important to note that signet ring cell adenocarcinoma of the stomach is often not FDG avid and has been known to cause false negative results on pet.
