Maybe: It will work, but like all opioids it does nothing for the underlying problem. Rest, ice and anti-inflamatory medications are cetianly first line treatments. If the pain persists or if there is extensive swelling see your doctor.

Combination medicine: I agree with dr rosenfeld but would add that the combination of hydrocodone with an anti-inflammatory (such as motrin) will work better.
