Some ideas: Some folks naturally prefer a low-stimulus environment & this is one definition of introversion; you can learn to function in social situations but will probably never enjoy rave parties -- no loss. If you're shy / social phobia guy, you can learn social skills (dale carnegie, cbt, toastmasters); be brave. Push yourself. And treasure who you are -- it's a lucky man who enjoys his own company best.

Introvert: There is nothing wrong with being an introvert. However, if shyness, self-consciousness, or a desire to avoid the negative evaluation of others is behind your behavior, you can improve in these areas. Working at thinking of others and being curious about them can help, as can counseling in this area.

Drama class!: Many famous actors were famously introverted when not on the stage. Acting helps put the words in your mouth and coordinate intonation with body language, all of which can improve your social skills. You might find a like minded person in the group, and you can try acting or technical theater. If all else fails, try being an usher at the performances.

THERE'S A WAY: Try to find a good psychotherapist and work on that problem. Many of my patients with that difficulty have worked it out.
