"Central venous": A triple lumen central venous catheter is used in the hospital setting to enable blood sampling, fluid administration, and drug infusion, each from a separate lumen or channel. They are commonly used but should be removed as soon as clinically feasible to prevent catheter induced infections, which could be serious.
