There may be: The respiratory tract includes our sinuses, eustachian tubes and ears, oropharynx, bronchial tubes and lungs. Since it is all connected, it is not uncommon for a sinus infection to eventually "settle in the chest" or vice versa. It's simply the infection spreading beyond its original location.
