Can medical doctor prescribe adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine)? i was given adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) several years ago it made me think clearer and lost weight my psychiatrist won't do it

Stimulants: Physicians can prescribe Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) if there is a medical indication & the risks are outweighed by potential benefits. If you don't have a formal diagnosis of add/adhd your physician may not be willing to prescribe it. There are other options beside stimulants if you have add or adhd.

Yes: Any md can prescribe any medication they feel competent to use . Obviously your psychiatrist does not feel it is an appropriate wt loss strategy.I would have to agree.
