Posture or curvature: If you mean there is a curve in your spine, when looking from behind, then you may have scoliosis. Have you pcp take a look. If by posture you mean the way it looks from the side there is little you can do to make that different. In the elderly it may be a sign of osteoporosis and vertebral compression fractures.

No: In real life, that naturally does not happen. There might be some internet stories about events like that, but that doesn't happen to normal, real people. To look or seem taller, an adult may improve her posture, clothes, shoes, gracefulness, confidence, etc...
