Get it checked ASAP: Blunt eye trauma can cause a number of complications, and it is advisable to get it checked even without seeing the flashing. However, flashing indicates traction of the vitreous gel within the eye on either the retina or optic nerve, and could indicate a retinal tear, retinal detachment, or a risk for these conditions. Only with a careful dilated eye exam can there problems be ruled out.
