The arthritis.: Your knee joint has muscular and tendonous attachments that will pain when contracted, also causing knee pain. The fact that it is worse when you are doing nothing strongly suggest an inflammatory process causing arthritis. Also, degenerative arthritis can paradoxically hurt more at night becauses of boning spurring around the knee causing pressure pain .See a rheumatologist!
