Infection vs allergy: You could have an allergy but as you describe your symptoms it sounds like an infection. Most respiratory infections are viral and will go away on their own. As long as you don't have a fever you shouldn't need a doctor. Cough remedies you find in pharmacies don't help but there are a lot of home remedies that can help. Take a look at a website called the people's pharmacy for things to try.
